The main purpose of the investigation is to make clear the environmental
history of the taklimakan desert and its vicinities including lake areas.
In the 1990 season, the following projects were studied.
(1) Preliminary field survey on quaternary geology of Taklimakan
desert and the surrounding areas, including Bosten and Aidin Lakes.
(2) Establishing the method reconstructing the paleoenvironments in
Taklimak desert and the surrounding areas, using micro-fossils.
(3) Fundamental study on TL dating of desert deposits.
