Rosacea is a common inflammatory skin disease, but its pathophysiology is still unclear. In this study, we aim to characterize and compare the skin bacterial and fungal microbiome in rosacea patients and healthy controls. Our study revealed an alteration in the prevalence of certain pathogenic and protective bacteria in the facial skin microbiome of patients with different rosacea subtypes. We found an increased abundance of Staphylococcus in the erythematotelangiectatic rosacea group and an increase in Streptococcus in the papulopustular rosacea group.
