资源简介:
This study explores the multifaceted relationship that individuals have with their jewellery from a social and intergenerational perspective. Through qualitative research methods, including thirteen interviews and visual ethnography, the study aims to uncover the various meanings, emotions and connections that people attribute to their jewellery pieces. Moreover, the research will explore how the receiving and inheritance of jewellery contribute to the preservation of traditions, values and memories across the generations defying the spatial and temporal barriers. The study aimed to integrate material and historical contexts to explore these objects’ significance in social interactions. More specifically, the study delved into the functions of heirloom jewellery within various families’ narratives and interactions. The findings revealed that heirloom, despite being inanimate objects, can impact social dynamics by mediating and moderating family relationships, by having social influence and deep emotional values.
