Effect of agricultural production systems on fungal communities in the wheat phyllosphere. phyllosphere metagenome

The aim of this project is to investigate the effect of the production system on fungal communities on wheat leaves. The organic and conventional production systems were compared by sampling paired farmers’ fields in Sweden during summer 2012. In total, 11 pairs were included in the study. The fields within each pair grew the same winter wheat variety and were located close to eachother. To date, little is known on how the production system affects phyllosphere fungi and this knowledge is important in order to develop sustainable disease control strategies.
