NDFF Wall Plants Monitoring Program

The aim of the Wall Plants Monitoring Program is to facilitate the structured counting of wall plants. First, a selection is made of line transacts with a maximum length of 300 metres. Then, growth locations of wall plants within those transacts are mapped as points on a map or indicated by house numbers. The number of specimens is counted at each point. The protocol contains a list of the species that need to be measured. Depending on the age of the wall, an indicative visit duration is given. Since there are only a few species of wall plants, it is not necessary to have comprehensive knowledge of Dutch flora. Specific identification problems are not addressed in this protocol.
