Khwurshîd u Mâh (خورشيد و ماه).

A mystical mathnawî, entitled مثنوئ خورشيد و ماه or قصّۀ خورشيد و ماه , ‘sun and moon,’ composed, according to the colophon, قائله و ناظمه محمّد شريف بداعى و نسفى, by a poet of the same name, as the author of the preceding diwân, viz. Muḥammad Sharîf Badâ’î Nasafî, who, however, seems to introduce occasionally in this poem the name جامى as a sort of takhalluṣ, viz. fol. 12a:

درين گلشن بجامی خوشدلم دار

دل افگارم دل افگارم دل افگار

Fol. 32a:

بجامى خاطرم را جمع گردان

پریشانم پریشانم پریشان

Fol. 51b:

بجامى سر خوشم گردان خدارا

بگردان سرفراز این بینوارا

And fol. 78a:

از آن روئى چو مه جامی چو خورشید

بامّيدم بامّيدم بامّيد

Beginning:

خداوندا دلى ده گرم رفتار

زبانى ده خموش آما گهربار

No date. The copyist’s name was Muḥammadbeg Shâmlû; the copy belonged formerly to Shâh Muḥyîaldîn. A prose-romance, dealing with a similar subject and styled قصّۀ مهر و ماه, has been noticed above in No. 805.

No. 241, ff. 132, ll. 12; illuminated frontispiece; little ornaments throughout; every bait has alternately at the beginning or end a flower; size, 85/8 in. by 5 in.
