Adaptive differentiation in swimming performances, physiology and gene expression between sympatric cichlid fishes

In this study, we investigated if cichlid species’ divergent body shapes affect fitness in their different habitats by testing their cruising and sprinting swimming performances. We also investigated species’ oxygen consumption and gene expression in gill and muscle at rest and during exercise.
