To investigate the impact of methionine supplementation on the gut microbiota in poultry, the FIMM (in vitro microbial culture) technique was applied to concurrently culture digesta from the complete small intestines and ceca of four healthy broilers (aged 10 weeks), using individually reagent grade L-methionine (BRL), feed grade DL-methionine (D-methionine 50%, L-methionine 50%; BDL), feed grade L-methionine 95% (BL95), and feed grade L-methionine 100% (BL).
