Southeast Atlantic foraminifera N isotope data from winter 2017

These data present modern foraminifer tissue- and shell-bound nitrogen isotope (d15N) measurements collected inside and outside of an Agulhas Ring in the southeast Atlantic Ocean (along the eastern SAMBA transect; 34.5°S, between 2.6 - 14.3°E).  Samples inside ("Eddy") and outside ("Atlantic") of the anticyclonic ring were collected on board the R/V S.A. Agulhas II between 17 - 27 July 2017 (austral winter) using surface (0 - 200 m) net tows. Additional data show nitrogen isotopes from bulk zooplankton N (surface net tow, 0 - 200 m), and particulate organic matter (> 0.3 μm, 0 - 175 m) from the same transect. 

The dataset provides insight into the influence of Agulhas Rings on the nitrogen isotope composition of particulates and microorganisms in the Cape Basin, and has been used in ground-truthing the foraminifer-bound nitrogen isotope palaeo-proxy in this region.
