A study of anxiety in English speaking among Thai financial workers of a commercial bank

The study aims to investigate English speaking anxiety level and find out the strategies that overcome English-speaking anxiety. The participants of this study were thirty Thai financial workers at a commercial bank in Saraburi, Thailand. The questionnaires were used as research instrument to answer the research questions. Furthermore, data was obtained through questionnaires which was represented through maximum, minimum, mean, standard deviation and percentage. The findings of this study revealed that the level of English-speaking anxiety among Thai financial workers of a commercial bank was at a moderate level because Thai financial workers are more likely to get anxious when communicating with foreign customers in the workplace which is caused by lack of preparation and negative thoughts about their English-speaking performance. Additionally, the participants decided to use positive thinking and relaxation strategy as their main strategies to cope with their English speaking in the workplace.
