Prokaryotic virus contig sequences from Mar Menor (time series, from October 2019 to October 2022), Mar Menor [Ghai et al. (2012], Albufera of Valencia [Ghai et al. (2012], and surface water from several locations of the Mediterranean Sea [(López-Pérez et al. (2017) and Karsenti et al. (2011)]. The virus contig sequences were identified following the SOP recommended by Guo et al. 2021. First, VirSorter2 was applied using a score of 0.5 and candidate viruses were later inspected and sorted into confidence categories using CheckV. Functional annotation with DRAMv was utilized to manually inspect contigs carrying suspicious cellular genes.
