This project examined microbial community structure with depth in the Gloucester Point Beach subterranean estuary located along the York River Estuary, VA, USA. Sediment cores were collected in spring, summer, and fall of 2018 and winter 2019 and 16S rRNA sequence analysis was conducted to examine sediment microbial communities facilitating biogeochemical reactions in the subterranean estuary.
