MuSR studies of complex magnetism in topological kagome magnets GdMn6Sn6 and DyMn6Sn6

Inspired by the recent observation of highly unusual spin fluctuations that coexist with the long-range magnetic order in TbMn6Sn6 via muSR, we would like to propose a similar ZF-muSR study of large single crystals of the topological kagome metals GdMn6Sn6 and DyMn6Sn6 (up to ~2 g each) at the RIKEN-RAL muon instrument ARGUS or CHRONUS, in the temperature range of 1.5-450 K. We would like to request 3 days of beamtime. We believe that the new insights into the complex magnetic ordering and the possible interplay between the localised rare-earth magnetism, itinerant Mn magnetism and non-trivial band topology in this fascinating topological quantum material series can be obtained with the proposed experiments.
