Goldfish is a excellent model for fish morphology evolution research. In this project, we aimed at dissecting the genetic basis of many morphological variations in goldfish, for example, the lose of dorsal fin. Firstly, we will use comparative transcriptome sequencing to determine the genes that are involved in dorsal fin fold development. Then, we will focus on the genomic variations and the underlying mechanisms that lead to morphological changes of goldfish.
