sRSA PARKLAAN extension

Summary: The s-RSA proposes a future spatial policy for the city from an overall perspective. The strategic map is the synthesis of the active policies to be pursued by the s-RSA. This map is structured as follows: The strategic map consists of 5 strategic spaces: the hard backbone, the soft backbone, the green singel, the lively canal and the lower network. A strategic space plays a key role in the active policies of the s-RSA. It is in these areas that the city wants to invest with people and resources as a priority over the next 15 years. Within each strategic space, the s-RSA has defined strategic programmes. A strategic programme gives a more specific and pragmatic content to the strategic space. For each programme, the s-RSA has also identified strategic projects: these are the planned actions by which the structural plan aims to achieve the vision and area-based objectives. Some strategic projects are priorities: these are the so-called leverage actions. The ‘lower network’ is one of the five strategic spaces of the s-RSA. The ‘lower network’ is the fine network of streets, boulevards, tram and bus lines, cycling and pedestrian paths connecting urban or neighbourhood centres with each other and with the city centre, thus strengthening the various ‘villages’ within Antwerp. In order to improve the identity of each district nucleus, a good public domain needs to be developed. The PARKLAN is one of the ‘lower network’ programmes. The role of the Parklaan is to connect the different districts. Only connections to the urban highway are allowed. The spatial character can be described as a flourishing beetle in a green and qualitatively designed landscape. Open spaces along this road will, as far as possible, remain unbuilt. A high variety of walking and cycle paths can be used as a means to achieve this connection and to increase visual quality. A parallel recreational path through the parks will also be present. It is desirable to cluster the parks on public transport hubs (boulevards). In this way, they serve the Park Ride system in the city. The accessibility of the Parklaan is a basic objective, especially for soft road users. The extension of the PARKLAAN is part of the PARKLAAN programme. Objective: Visualisation and demarcation of the extension of the PARKLAAN of the ‘lower network’ for the city of Antwerp. The demarcations are not hard borders and can be further specified in the implementation process. In general, the strategic map is not a zoning plan or a land use plan. The card does not confirm or deny any building rights Creation: The map layer is the result of the conversion of the strategic spaces into Shape format. The autocad cards and the corresponding grids were used as a basis for this purpose. The signature was made using the large scale basic map of the city of Antwerp. The map layer indicates where the extension of the PARKLAAN of the ‘lower network’ has been defined.
