The two-story building is pictured in the background, partially obscured by the trunk of a large tree in the foreground. A covered porch is visible to the right, where a rocking chair can be seen, and the house is sided with clapboard. The broad side of the house to the left appear to be adobe, and several windows can be seen on the first floor, although only one can be seen on the second. A ring of stones is pictured behind a glass jug next to the tree at center, while wooden furniture is partially visible to the left. The trees foliage hangs in from above. Arnez was Civil Administrator of the San Buenaventura Mission in 1854. The house was owned by the mission and taken away from him the same year.
