VPRS 18045 Railway Maps of Victoria

This series consists of volumes of maps that show the locations of the railways in Victoria in 1939 and the location of stations and their distances from Melbourne in miles.They were also used as control records for the Chainage and Curve Books and the Index Cards for the Chainage and Curve Books (as of November 2016, these series are not in PROV custody) .Markings on the maps indicate they were produced by the Victorian Railways - Way & Works Branch, and amended to 4/4/39. Around the edge of the map is an index of all stations which provides their locations on the map. Additional information that has been added to each map by hand at a later date.In the volume titled 'Chainage Book', sections of each line have been coloured with green and red, and each section has a record number written near it. This is similar in the volume titled 'Curve Book', but with blue and red, and different record numbers. The volume 'Country & Suburban Line Sections Book' has no record numbers, and the lines are multi-coloured.
