Design of a Register of Melliferous Plants in Bulgaria Based on Literature Review and field-validated records

This dataset presents a preliminary version of a register of melliferous plants in Bulgaria. For the purpose of this register, melliferous plants are defined as species providing resources for Apis mellifera.

The current dataset, provided in .xlsx format, establishes the backbone of the register. It includes a structure with 56 individual indicators covering honey yield, abiotic requirements, landscape structure, and biotic interactions (including documented pollinators as an example). In addition to demonstrate the functional potential of the register, data for all 56 indicators have been entered for 5 pilot species. Additionally, photographic evidence of the species and their pollinators is included to support identification and verification. This repository is intended to be a dynamic resource! Future updates will expand the dataset to cover all 996 plant species identified as melliferous plants in Bulgaria, based on literature data and field observations.
