Replication Data and Code for "The Effect of Municipal Subsidy Programs on Balcony-PV Adoption in Germany"

Replication package (code, panels and raw data) for a master's thesis at the University of Mannheim (Master of Science in Economics, 2026). It contains a quarterly panel of 50 German municipalities over 30 quarters (2019-Q1 to 2026-Q2) and a monthly panel of the same municipalities over 88 months (2019-02 to 2026-05), constructed from the German Market Master Data Register (Marktstammdatenregister, MaStR, downloaded 16 June 2026) and Destatis Regionalstatistik. The panels contain new balcony-PV registrations per 1,000 inhabitants, a hand-curated binary treatment indicator for active municipal subsidy programs, and municipality-level covariates. One municipality from the original analysis sample of 51 is excluded because its treatment dates come from a confidential survey response; the estimates obtained from these data therefore differ slightly from those reported in the thesis. Version 2.0 corrects a data error in version 1 that affected the registration counts of seven municipalities. Version 1 should not be used. Version 3.0 adds code for additional estimates reported in the thesis; the data are unchanged.
