This Excel spreadsheet contains the entire database for this study, including the scores assigned to each cultural transmission mode (variables; columns E-W) for each cultural trait (individuals; lines 2–104). The scores reported are the final ones (after the three steps for score assignment – see Main Text’s Methods) used in all the analyses. For each trait, the abbreviation (column B), the age of first consolidate appearance (column C), and the appropriate time period (column D) are provided. See Main Text’s Methods for the definition of the variables; Tables 1 and S1 provide further details on the considered cultural traits.
