Although galaxy mergers are believed to play important roles in the enhancementand growth of SMBHs this has yet to be studied in a systematic method for theirlow-mass counterpart: dwarf galaxy mergers. MBHs in dwarf galaxies representlocal analogs to the high-z black hole seeds that grew via accretion and mergersinto the nearby massive SMBHs in our observable Universe. Studying thepopulation of nearby dwarf galaxy mergers and the AGN activity among them istherefore critical to understanding the physical drivers behind SMBH accretionand the link between environment and black hole growth. We propose to observe 10nearby (0.015 < z < 0.021) dwarf galaxy systems to measure the number of AGN ineach system. [truncated! Please see actual data for full text]
