Studies on Ribes plants, Cecidophyopsis mites and viruses for sustainable resistance breeding and cultivation of Ribes. Studies of Ribes plants and their pathogens

The main aim of the project is to explain the interaction of the Cecidophyopsis-blackcurrant reversion virus (BRV) complex on Ribes plants: 1) studies on the concept and genetic diversity of genus Cecidophyopsis species; 2) elucidation of Cecidophyopsis mite role in BRV transmission; 3) characterization of host defence mechanisms against Cecidophyopsis and BRV using gene expression and transcriptome analyses by NGS; 4) collection and evaluation of local Ribes cultivar germplasm; 5) NGS RNA-seq data screening for identification of novel viruses.
