The soil overview map in scale 1:50.000 (BK50) provides an overview of the distribution of soil and soil-forming substrates for the entire area of Rhineland-Palatinate. The near-surface subsurface is depicted to a depth of two metres. Due to scale, the legend units of the soil map are composed of soil form societies (BFG), which are described via several use-differentiated soil forms (BF). The leading soil shape is the soil shape that has the largest area in a BFG. Their name is also the name of the BFG.: The usable field capacity of a soil is the part of the field capacity that is available for vegetation. It contains the amount of water that a site far from groundwater can retain against gravity in natural storage after sufficient saturation and corresponds to a suction voltage of pF 1.8 to 4.2 according to the convention.
