16S rRNA gene squencing of anaerobic digested sludge. anaerobic digester metagenome

Propionate degrading bacteria is key bacteria for anaerobic digestion (methane fermentation) of organic waste. This research was aimed to enhance anaerobic digestion using syntrophic propionate oxidizing bacteria enriched from sludge. Six different sources of sludges were used and propionate was used as sole carbon source for enrichment of propionate oxidizing bacteria. After several months of enrichment cultivation, microbial community was investigated by using 16S rRNA gene amplicone sequence by Miseq.
