Peanut Flowering RNA-seq

Both Tifrunner and GT-C20 are peanut/groundnut cultivars with highly contrasting reproductive/morphological phenotype. Tifrunner belongs to the subspecies A. hypogaea and never produce any flower on the mainstem. It has a runner type of growth habit and produces flowers till the end of growing season. GT-C20 is a spanish type of peanut in the subspecies A. fastigiata with flowers on the mainstem forming a bunch type of canopy. It has a central time of blooming and shuts down flowering afterwards. This project delve into the expression profiling of the developmental stages of the two cultivars. Leaf and shoot tip samples from lateral stem and main stem were collected from Tifrunner and GT-C20. Tissue was collected in 6 time points (T1 - T6), T1: production of first leaf on main stem; T2: production of first leaf on first lateral (time just preceding flowering); T3: first bloom; T4: first peg formation (R2; 5 mm extension); T5: first pod formation (R3); T6: maximum vegetative growth (R4).
