Site AZ B:16:0911 is located at the bottom of the Grand Canyon near the mouth of Monument Creek. Fill from a small masonry structure was examined for pollen and macrofloral remains. Macrofloral analysis also was conducted on fill from an ash lens in the masonry structure and from a small thermal feature. Mesquite charcoal in the macrofloral sample from the masonry structure was submitted for AMS radiocarbon dating. Pollen and macrofloral analyses provide information concerning plants utilized by the prehistoric site occupants, while AMS radiocarbon dating provides temporal information.
