VPRS 2555 Maintenance Orders

This series comprises Maintenance Orders made by Justices of the Peace pursuant to section 43 of the Marriages Act 1890 and equivalent sections of later Acts. Maintenance orders comprising the P0000 consignment appear to have been created by justices in the Central Bailiwick, which appears to have comprised Melbourne’s inner suburbs. Each order recorded the names of the parties (including children), the names of the justices making the order, the date and place of the order, the amount to be paid and the frequency of payment and various stamps, seals and numbers.
