The rhizosphere of the topsoil at four distinct soil profiles in an arable field grown with rye (secale cereale) was sampled and metagenomic sequencing of extracted DNA was performed on Illumina NovaSeq 6000 platform. The soil profiles ranged from strongly eroded Calcaric Regosols and eroded Nudiargic Luvisols via non eroded Calcic Luvisols to groundwater influenced depressions (Colluvic Regosols).
