The experiments with simplified bridge model provided a lot of insight about the performance of the MR dampers in controlling the highway bridges vibration, however, it cannot capture the behaviors such as local deformations and out of plane behavior. In this experiment, a detailed finite element bridge model with 263,178 DOF is developed and used as numerical component in real-time hybrid simulation by means of a proposed convolution integral method to further evaluate MR dampers performance on bridges.
