资源简介:
There is a critical need to identify individual habitats in the fossil record, because (i) the palaeoclimatological reconstructions based on geochemical proxies are frequently habitat-dependent, and (ii) changes in habitat representation integrate not only climate, but also edaphic factors and disturbances, providing a more complex insight into drivers of ecological transformations and resilience. To address this need, we present a novel method that interconnects plant macrofossil and vegetation databases to reconstruct millennial habitat changes. We customised the recently developed similarity index (FEVER) to the fossil record, calibrated it with recent European-scale vegetation data, and applied it to the extensive supra-regional macrofossil database. This package contains R script (Vegetation_Estimation_from_Paleosamples), a European-scale calibration dataset of 56 wetland habitats (synoptic_table, syntaxa_names), and file with example data in the structure compatible with the script (profile_examples).
