Short study on the Energy Efficiency Act.

The study identified targets for the Austrian final consumption of energy from national and European targets. In order to ensure the sustainable supply of renewable energy sources, an intermediate target for 2030 between 820 and 920 Petajoule (PJ) should be set for final energy consumption and between 947 and 1,048 PJ for primary energy consumption. The target value for 2040 was calculated with almost 700 PJ final energy consumption, with increased implementation of energy efficiency measures reduced to 630 PJ. By 2040, it is therefore necessary to expand renewable energy sources to 767-840 PJ, which at the same time conserves biodiversity and valuable land. The implementation of efficiency measures increases the resilience of the energy system and added value and creates positive effects on the labour market.
