VPRS 9530 Record of Local Standards Issued

This series comprises record books of local standards issued.The P1 consignments contains register of local standard issued. The volumes from 1952 to 1965 were arranged sequentially by the number marked on the spine of the volume. They appear to be part of a formal record keeping system.Under the provisions of section 28 of the Weights and Measures Act 1939 (No.4712) and the subsequent legislation, a register of local standards issued to municipalities was required to be kept by the Superintendent of the Weights and Measures Branch of the Chief Secretarys Department (VA 475). These registers were maintained from 1952 to 1965.Information recorded in the registers includes:- Name of local authority to which, the local standard was issued.- Distinguishing number (of municipality/union)- Date of receipt from the local authority- Date of issue/ reissue of local standards- Measure of length (in yards)- Measure of capacity (in gallons)- Weights (in Pounds or ounces)- RemarksThe P2 consignment contains a record book of particulars of supply of local standards to local authorities. Information recorded includes :- type of equipment- order date- prices charged to local authorities- particulars of supply to local authorities ( date, name of the local authority, File/Act no)
