Polar Stratospheric Cloud density over the Antarctic from 2006 to 2020

The first dataset (PSC_density_maps_day_60S-90S_2006-2020_v1.0.nc ) is a gridded product providing daily maps of Polar Stratospheric Cloud (PSC) density and MERRA-2 temperature over the Antarctic (60–90°S) from 2006 to 2020. The data are available on a 2°×4° latitude-longitude grid at the following pressure levels: 10, 20, 30, 50, 70, 100, and 150 hPa. The PSC density and temperature maps are derived from the CALIPSO Level 2 PSC product v2 (DOI: 10.5067/CALIOP/CALIPSO/CAL_LID_L2_PSCMASK-STANDARD-V2-00), which provides the spatial distribution of PSCs and temperature above the poles on a 5-km horizontal by 180-m vertical grid.

The second dataset (PSC_density_timeseries_day_60S-90S_2006-2020_v1.0.nc ) provides daily PSC density values averaged over the Antarctic (60–90°S) for the same period (2006–2020) and pressure levels (10, 20, 30, 50, 70, 100, and 150 hPa), providing a regional mean representation of PSC occurrence.
