Counting the Cost of Slum Tourism: An Alternative Pathway to City Rejuvenation in Zambia

Slum tourism evoke mixed emotions of empowerment, poverty, voyeurism, stigmatisation and power. This research explore Kalingalinga informal settlement in Zambia and critically investigates direct causal relationships between slum tourism and key socioeconomic dimensions. The study adopt a critical and dependency theorist approach, and quantitative methodology to examine correlations with health care quality, education resources, economic stability and social integration, analysed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM).
