Dataset: Decision-oriented benchmarking to transform AI weather forecast access: Application to the Indian monsoon

Subsetted AI-based weather prediction (AIWP) and numerical weather prediction (NWP) forecast datasets for daily precipitation and the Webster–Yang Index over the Indian region. Daily precipitation is provided on a 4° × 4° spatial grid, obtained via conservative regridding from each model’s native resolution. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) rainfall threshold at the same 4° × 4° resolution is also provided. The datasets span multiple analysis periods and are organized as yearly NetCDF (.nc) files. Forecasts for 2025 from AIFS and NGCM, initialized using ERA5 and operational analyses, are included in a separate folder.
