<span style='font-family:"Avenir Next W01", "Avenir Next W00", "Avenir Next", Avenir, "Helvetica Neue", sans-serif; font-size:16px;'>This geospatial layer depicts priority migratory bird areas in Virginia identified as Important Bird Areas (IBAs) </span><span style='font-family:"Avenir Next W01", "Avenir Next W00", "Avenir Next", Avenir, "Helvetica Neue", sans-serif; font-size:16px;'>by Audubon as the U.S. partner for </span><span style='font-family:"Avenir Next W01", "Avenir Next W00", "Avenir Next", Avenir, "Helvetica Neue", sans-serif; font-size:16px;'>BirdLife International. They identify, monitor, and protect the most important places for birds, which depend upon a large range of habitats and face numerous threats. The purpose of the layers to provide a tool to help prioritize conservation efforts in these places upon which birds depend. The geospatial layer includes the name of the IBA, the common name of the highest priority bird species, the identification number of the Bird Conservation Region (BCR), and the BCR rank. According to the U.S. North American Bird Conservation Initiative (NABCI), "</span><font size='3'>Bird Conservation Regions (BCRs) are ecologically distinct regions in North America with similar bird communities, habitats, and resource management issues within their boundaries". </font>
