To elucidate the mechanisms involved in the acquisition of a fully differentiated beta-cell phenotype, we compared by microarray the mRNAs and the long non-coding RNAs expressed in newborn and adult rat islets. Overall design: Pancreatic islets from 3 adult male rats and from 3 pools of 10 days old rats were isolated by collagenase digestion. Total RNA was extracted and lncRNA and mRNA profiling was performed using the rat lncRNA Agilent array.
