Flooding areas outside the PRIP regulatory areas in the Department of Vienna

The atlas of flood zones (AZI) of the department of Vienna represents the envelope areas of all known floods, either by modelling or by observation on the ground. This atlas was carried out using two methods (specified in the attributes): — hydrogeomorphological, based on a representation of the major stream bed, deterministic method accounting only for the extent of the flood zone for secondary streams, — hydraulic, based on the centennial reference flood or the highest known waters (PHEC) when they are superior, probabilistic approach on other streams. This data aims to inform citizens and decision-makers about the risk of flooding. It has no regulatory scope and cannot replace an urban planning document or a Risk Prevention Plan (RPP). Nevertheless, it allows citizens and officials, elected or administrative, to better appreciate the extent of areas that pose a significant flood risk or promote the spread of water. It is a tool for information and decision support. It cannot be ignored in particular in the context of the preparation of urban planning documents and their explanation.
