Global carbon tax revenues 2023, by country

France's generated roughly 8.4 billion U.S. dollars in revenue through carbon taxes in 2023, the largest amount worldwide. Canada's federal fuel charge generated the second-highest revenue that year, at around 5.7 billion U.S. dollars. As of April 1, 2024, carbon tax rates in the North American country were 59 U.S. dollars per metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent.
