New Protection Measures in Formicula islet, Inner Ionian - Regulated Zones File

This layer consists of the Protection Zones and its Measures of Formicula islet, as the Ministerial Decision foresees. In total three zones are delineated: a regulated access zone (Zone 1), a restricted access zone (Zone 2) and a regulated passage zone (Zone 3), with general and zone-specific restrictions and permissions.

Τhe file formats in the present dataset include the file types: a shapefile (for gis applications), gpx, kml and pdf with more information and the map representation of the zones. The present dataset was created and shared in the context of promoting arareness and to encourage the incorporation of protection zones withing navigational apps systems of vessels to support implementation. 

Actions related to the advocation of Formicula's strict protection has started in 2022 in the context of Formicula’s project. The project is implemented by iSea in collaboration with Tethys Research Institute and funded by Blue Marine Foundation.
