TerraClimate

TerraClimate provides monthly climate and climatic water balance data during the time period from 1958 to 2024. The dataset covers global land surfaces with spatial resolution of ~4 km (1/24th degree). Variables include maximum temperature, minimum temperature, precipitation, wind speed, runoff, and soil moisture, among others. TerraClimate data can be used in various ecological and hydrological applications, such as species distribution modeling, environment impact analyses, and wildfire activity pattern studies. The climate data is produced using climatically aided interpolation with a combination of a higher spatial resolution dataset (WorldClim) and two long-term higher temporal resolution datasets (CRU Ts4.0 and JRA-55). The climatic water balance data is produced using a water balance model with extractable soil water storage capacity data.
