资源简介:
The purpose of an admission register was to record basic details about children admitted to the school, and about their parents or guardians. The registers were also used to record the progress of the children through various classes and the date of their leaving the school. This series contains information pertaining to each pupil including: date of admission; pupil's name; date of birth; religious denomination; name of previous school and date of leaving. The following details are recorded about the child's parents or guardians: name, residence and occupation. The pupil's date of admission to each subsequent grade, date of leaving the school and any occupation entered into on leaving school are also recorded; this last column may also be used to indicate the school to which a pupil may have transferred.Girls and boys are listed on opposite pages in order of admission, and numbered sequentially (in two distinct sequences) from the beginning of the volume. In January, 1941 all pupils then enrolled were re-entered, and the numbering of the entries was made continuous with that followed up until 1933 (one girl who had first been enrolled in 1933 thereby appearing under two successive numbers). The pages on which admissions between 1934 and 1940 had first been entered were then or subsequently stapled together. Current enrolments were again re-entered on the 30th March, 1957, in what was at that time a separate volume, but on this occasion the existing entry-numbers were retained. The volume as it now stands is a composite of two earlier volumes. Enrolments prior to 1957 were entered in the first volume, enrolments current in March, 1957 and subsequent enrolments were entered in the second. A note on what was originally the first page of the second volume reads: “Present Pupils Re-written 30th March, 1957. / Pupils attending from 1918 under separate cover.” The union of the two volumes, achieved by sewing the pages of the first into the front of the second, is doubtless the work of the school’s final Teacher-in-Charge, who commenced duty in May, 1957, and who has added, after the final entries in the earlier volume, a note of her own, dated in April, 1964, in which she refers to her precursor’s note quoted above. The final entries in the volume are followed by this note: "7th May 1964 Lewinsbrook Provisional School was closed because of insufficient pupils." The note is signed by the Teacher-in-Charge, who has added her own dates of service at the school.
