Bulk RNA-seq analysis of scallop hemocytes

Bivalve hemocytes act as cellular biodefense and tissue regeneration. However, various fundamental information of bivalve hemocytes remains obscure such as cell type classification, cell differentiation process. Hence, this project aimed to analyze the gene expression profile of hemocytes in the Yesso scallop for both sexes by using bulk RNA-seq analysis. In the experiment, the hemocytes were collected from the Yesso scallop (male; n=3, female; n=3) and subjected for library preparation. The cDNA library was sequenced (Illumina HiSeq platform) and applied for data analysis. The results provide gene expression profiles of the Yesso scallop hemocytes for understanding the molecular mechanisms of hemocyte functions.
