This dataset supports a thirteen-year field manipulation experiment designed to address a key scientific question: how do altered precipitation regimes modulate the effects of nitrogen deposition on the stability of alpine grassland communities? In the context of global change, nitrogen deposition and precipitation variability interact, yet their combined effects on ecosystem stability—especially in sensitive alpine regions—remain poorly understood. Through a long-term multi-factor experiment, this study reveals that precipitation patterns play a critical "switch" role in mediating nitrogen enrichment effects. The data originate from a long-term experimental platform in the Tianshan alpine grasslands of China and include relevant ecosystem stability metrics with accompanying annotations.
