Oral microbiome in pcos with and without periodontal disease in comparison to their systemically healthy counterparts.

The aim of the present study is to investigate composition and diversity of salivary microbiota in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). This study also aimed to investigate the hypothesis that there is an increase in salivary putative periodontal pathogens in patients with PCOS with gingival inflammation compared to their systemically healthy counterparts. Salivary microbiota profiling was conducted using NGS-based 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing to investigate composition and diversity of salivary microbiota. The profiling was done on 60 salivary samples consisting of 30 PCOS (with and without periodontal disease) And 30 Non PCOS systemically healthy (without and with periodontal disease).
