DNA extractions were made to asses the protist diversity in the city forest of Uppsala and a nearby peat field. Samples from both soil and pond sediments were analyzed. To characterize the diversity the V4 region were amplified with universal 18S primers followed by Illumina sequencing. A wide diversity of protist from all major eukaryotic clades could be found in the generated data.
