Wheat stomata size and conductance

Twelve elite wheat genotypes were field-grown in plots with artificially increased nighttime temperatures (+ 2°C). The stomatal conductance on the adaxial and abaxial leaf side was measured during the early morning and the night, and stomatal morphological traits were assessed during the same period of plant growth. To determine whether an increase in early daytime stomatal conductance provides a growth and/or yield advantage under high temperature, the biomass, grain number, grain weight, and grain yield were measured. This dataset contains the size, density, width, lenght, aperture and stomata ratio by leafside. Early morning stomatal conductance was recorded during at 9:00 and 10:00 hours at booting and grainfilling stages, for the adaxial and abaxial leaf side and the theoretical maximum stomatal conductance was calculated. Finally, yield, yield components, and plant phenology for each of the 12 elite wheat lines are presented. Results from this study will be publised on AoB plants in the following weeks.
