Geology and soil in North Rhine-Westphalia
收藏资源简介:
The book “Geology and Soil in North Rhine-Westphalia” tells the varied history of the underground of our country, on and with which we live now and in the future. The book illustrates the importance of soils and rocks for groundwater, geothermal energy, raw materials, geohazards, for the beauty and recreational value of our landscape, for climate change. In a brief overview, the landscapes of North Rhine-Westphalia shaped by the earth’s history are described. The focus of the book is on the individual earth-historical epochs that have shaped NRW. What testimonies and rocks, what raw materials and geo-risks did they leave behind, what were the land/sea distributions and the climate at that time? Furthermore, the focus is on the soils of our country — where are there which soils, what dangers they are exposed to, how can we use them and protect them? Finally, an outlook is given on how geosciences secure our future and the importance of geoscientific data. A book for citizens, politics, business and science, in general, with many photos and graphics, but also with the latest stratigraphic overview tables about the rock layers of North Rhine-Westphalia.
