Criteria for sustainability and greenhouse gas savings.

The requirements of the Renewable Energy Directive II (RED II) are implemented in three regulations in Austria. These regulate the sustainability criteria for agricultural (NLAV) and forestry biomass (NFBioV) and the use of these sustainably produced biomass fuels for the production of electricity and/or heat/cold (bMen-VO). This guide provides assistance to operators using agricultural and forestry biomass to meet the sustainability and greenhouse gas saving criteria set out in RED II (Articles 29(2) to (7) and (10) and to provide the necessary evidence. On the basis of examples, the necessary steps to comply with the criteria for sustainability and greenhouse gas savings are explained.
