Increasing community capacity to manage ecologically sensitive landcare sites

This project will address two issues. Firstly there are many landcare sites in the Brunswick Catchment have sensitive ecosystems including threatened species of flora and fauna, fragile riparian areas, endangered ecological communities, and need skilled volunteers to manage the threats from pest species on the sites. Secondly the transient population in the area means that some of the trained volunteers and coordinators have left Landcare groups. This project will improve the knowledge and skills of volunteers to identify sensitive areas and effectively manage many sites across the catchment. The project will also recruit new volunteers and encourage land managers adjacent to landcare sites to control invasive species.
